Head Coach Adam Mitchell  

 

Adam leads the team as Head Coach and Director of Recruiting. This is Adam’s second season as head coach and performance training coach for the Junior Kings. Adam comes to us as a graduate and alumni of Rochester Institute of Technology. Adam attended the development camp with the Washington Capitals of the NHL, and was on the NHL’s “players to watch” list in 2009

Adam is looking forward to building off of last season with a deeper team and more experience. In 2017-18, the Kings finished the regular season in third place in the Northeast division, with the season coming to an end in the first round of playoffs against the Niagara Falls Powerhawks.

Associate Coach Nolan Descoteaux   

Nolan Descoteaux, a Dallas, TX native, has been playing hockey for 25 years. Along side Mitchell, in  NCAA Division I hockey at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology), Descoteaux, played 4 years and graduated with a Bachelors degree in business management with a minor in marketing.  Nolan played the last 4 years in the ECHL, winning the Kelly cup championship with the Allen Americans. Nolan leads the defense for the Junior Kings, and assists in the performance training center.

Post-collegiate play saw Descoteaux in 4 years of professional hockey in the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League) playing 231 total games, amassing 75 total points, with 8 different teams, including a Kelly Cup Championship in his rookie season with the Allen Americans.

Assistant Coach Patrick Choules   

Patrick heads up all hockey operations for both the Skylands Junior Kings, as well as Skylands Ice World and the Youth Kings Program. A graduate and alumni of SUNY Potsdam, Patrick’s experience both on and off the ice, brings the dedication and drive for excellence to the programs.  Patrick assists in player placement at next levels, and is currently the Head Coach  for the Skylands Kings U16AA team

 

Goalie Coach Tom Huber  

Tom works with our goalies 1-2 times weekly both on ice and video analysis. A graduate of Rutgers, Tom has worked closely with Jon Elkin (Arizona Coyotes), Michael Vishnevetsky (KHL Draft Pick—1st Round), and Steve Mastalerz (ECHL/UMass Amherst goalie). He has been coaching for the Skylands Kings for 5  years, and played most recently with Rutgers ACHA DII, and also has 2 years of junior playing experience. Tom recorded a 27 save shutout in his third college start, the only shutout for Rutgers in the 2013-14 season.
