Bruce commits to Waldorf University

June 27, 2017

The Skylands Junior Kings of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Darrin Bruce, Jr. has committed to play hockey for Waldorf University (NAIA) for the 2017-18 Season.

The Skylands Kings Coaches Mitchell & Choules stated, ” “We are very happy to see Darin find a home at Waldorf University. Darin came to us early on in the season and made an immediate impact. He is a very hard working player who does anything for his team. We wish him all the best at Waldorf and we look forward to keeping an eye on him as he continues his playing career.”

The Waldorf Warriors continued their winning ways by finishing the 2016-17 campaign with a 21-11-1 record, knocking off regionally-ranked opponents nine times. During Waldorf’s final season in the Northern Collegiate Hockey League (NCHL), the Warriors turned in a 9-3 conference record to earn the No. 2 seed in the NCHL Tournament and also secured their fourth consecutive trip to the ACHA Division II Central Region Tournament.

Waldorf, which will become a charter member of the ACHA’s newly-formed NAIA Division this year, opens the 2017-18 season with a pair of exhibition contests as the Warriors play host to the Chicago Cougars on Sept. 8 at Albert Lea, Minn. and then welcome the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings to Albert Lea City Arena the following night.

Bruce, like the rest of Waldorf’s incoming recruits, will be called on to provide an edge for the Warriors as they battle in the NAIA Division.
